  • Salad 50/50 blend is a combination of fifty percent spring mix and fifty percent baby spinach. The salad 50/50 blend is available year-round.

Selection
  • The salad 50/50 blend has no signs of yellowing, sliminess, or decay.
  • No foul odor.
Storage
  • The salad 50/50 blend should be stored at 32°F - 36°F (0°C - 2°C) with a relative humidity of ninety-five to a hundred percent and with a light mist for loose packaging.
  • The typical shelf life is ten to fourteen days. High humidity is important to avoid wilting. High temperature promotes deterioration and leaf breakdown.
  • The salad 50/50 blend is highly sensitive to ethylene, a naturally occurring gas that regulates ripening. Salad 50/50 blend should not be stored with high ethylene-producing products to extend shelf life and avoid russet spotting and leaf yellowing. The salad 50/50 blend produces a very low level of ethylene.
  • Salad 50/50 blend is not sensitive to chilling injury but is susceptible to freezing injury. The freezing point for salad 50/50 blend is 31°F (-0.5°C) should be avoided. Freezing injury symptoms include yellowing, dried out, and translucent leaves.
