- Pickle cuke 4A is a short pickling cucumber with bumpy skin that has graduating hues of dark and light green. It has more mature seeds than pickle 3B; similar to white watermelon seeds. Pickle cuke 4A is refreshing and mild but less crunchy than pickle slicer 3B. Common application includes sushi rolls, sandwiches, and pickled.

- Pickle cuke 4A is firm without blemishes and soft spots.
Storage
- Pickle cuke 4A should be stored at 50ºF - 54ºF (10ºC - 12.5ºC) with a relative humidity of ninety-five percent and periodic mist.
- The typical shelf life is less than fourteen days. High humidity is important to avoid shriveling.
- Pickle cuke 4A is very sensitive to ethylene, a naturally occurring gas that regulates ripening. Pickle cuke 4A should not be stored with high ethylene-producing products to extend shelf life and avoid yellowing and decay. Pickle cuke 4A produces a low level of ethylene.
- Pickle cuke 4A is sensitive to chilling injury after two or three days of storage at below 50ºF (10ºC). Symptoms include yellowing, softening, and pitting. Development of chilling injury symptoms can be avoided if used immediately after removal from storage.
